Currently, the recent events surrounding COVID-19 has led to a shift in how our current education system operates. Schools are moving to online platforms en mass. As educators, we consider daily how to make learning accessible to our students. In the midst of crises vulnerabilities are exposed and accessibility becomes a topic of concern. Whether it is childcare, technology, or lunch, the ultimate goal of every education professional is striving to ensure the accessibility to our learners.
Accessibility spans across multiple professions. Considerations and decisions are being made by doctors, professors, teachers, and business leaders that impact the lives of many across the globe. Therefore, accessibility is key. As a result, questions ensue such as:
With these questions in mind, asking the questions above will ensure reflection and the possibility of positive short and long term outcomes.
Today, in the midst of fear in an ever changing environment, let us hold fast to our faith and be compassionate to others. Consider how you can make resources accessible to others in need. Strive to express empathy as many navigate challenges and difficulties and adjust. For many, this is uncharted territory but everyday we are granted grace. Peace and grace be unto you all during this time!
