Everyday is a good day to start over! At times with the current global circumstances, it feels hard to navigate. There are moments I feel I am failing as a professional, mother, and wife. I’m definitely not alone as many women and men feel this pressure. There are numerous roles bundled up into one due to the pandemic. As a result, I have been trying to get into a new “flow” that includes rest! It is possible.
Long story short, I have not been able to truly rest even after the birth of my daughter. Yes. I have found moments. But the rest needed to find joy (literally and figuratively) in a world of constant change? No.
What does it mean to rest in this time? This is deeply personal for many. However, for me I am still working through this question but here is my list:
1. Not multitasking from morning to evening
2. Being able to focus on one thing at a time
3. Reading! (I am currently listening to “A Promised Land” via Audible and reading “What would Frida Do?” I have another book recommendation on the way known as "The New Parisienne: The Women & Ideas Shaping Paris."
4. A nap in mid afternoon.
This is my checklist and I hope to follow through. The current pandemic leads to making decisions that are unconventional yet in the best interest of the moment. We all are literally navigating this terrain of life on a day by day basis. Yet, it is the perfect opportunity to find a moment to rest, experience joy and also express gratitude!

"The reason why rivers and seas receive the homage of a hundred mountain streams is that they keep below them. Thus they are able to reign over all the mountain streams. So the sage, wishing to be above men, putteth himself below them; wishing to be before them, he putteth himself behind them. Thus, though his place be above men, they do not feel his weight; though his place be before them, they do not count it an injury.” -Lao Tzu
