When was the last time you expressed gratitude with a Thank You note? Thank You notes are personal and professional ways of expressing gratitude to a colleague, interviewer or company. It has potential to transform and strengthen professional, personal and interpersonal bonds. It also has the potential to build upon the culture of community in your environment. 

Recently, I found an old thank you card from an Associate Dean at Penn State University. I attended a Climate and Diversity Committee Meeting where I shared experiences and personal challenges faced during my tenure at Penn State University. As I read through the card, the Associate Dean expressed gratitude for my attendance,  appreciation for sharing personal experiences, and reminded me that my contributions were for the greater good. This note is an exceptional example of how to craft a thank you note with the goal of building upon a culture of community.
